Springfield police posed as online escorts, where men would offer to pay money in exchange for sexual services inside a hotel room. But unbeknownst to them, the room was filled with Springfield police officers and Hampden County Sheriff's deputies.
Officers arrested five men from 1 until 7 p.m. as they showed up to the designated hotel room at the prearranged time.
All were charged with purchasing prostitution.
They are:
- Jason Assad, age 41, of Springfield
- Jeffrey Premo, age 49, of Palmer
- Frank Fay, age 29, of Westfield
- Myrick White, age 43, of Springfield
- Edwin Rivera, 34, of Chicopee
White was also charged with possession of a Class B drug, authorities said.
Springfield police said the sting operation is to curtail the problem of prostitution in the city.
